We are excited to welcome a new Clinical Psychologist to join our small, enthusiastic and dedicated team, committed to doing things differently in Manchester.
Living Well is a new service, co-designed by people with lived experience and key partners, designed to bridge the gap between existing primary and secondary care services. Working in partnership with GMMH and VCSE organisations it offers a service which is trauma informed, holistic, person led and community based.We are committed to doing things differently and trying new things.

Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for overall clinical leadership within the LW service, which will include the continued development of clinical pathways, clinical governance, and provision of high-quality clinical supervision. You will be responsible for the systematic development and provision of highly specialist psychological services for people using the LW service, and their families/carers who experience complex psychological problems. You will develop and provide services that meet the agreed service priorities. This will include development and implementation of highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention strategies including clinical casework, training/supervision of other team members and the provision of consultancy work generally for the assurance of quality in the use of psychological methods by the LW team.
Depending on the candidate there is also scope to include the delivery of some individual therapy within the role.
We are especially keen to welcome applicants with lived experience of mental illness to this post.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS
- Post qualification training/qualifications in a specialised area of psychological practice (e.g., EMDR, DBT, CAT).
- Significant experience of specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions with people with complex mental health problems
- Significant experience of working with a wide variety of groups, across the whole life course, presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity,
- Significant experience of adopting a trauma informed approach.
- Significant experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for people's psychological care and treatment
- Significant experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team and supporting team members in the implementation of psychologically informed care
- Significant experience of teaching, training and providing consultation to other people in the principles of psychologically informed care.
- Significant experience in leading on the provision of clinical supervision to other members of a team.
- Experience of service development and transformation.
- Previous experience in a clinical leadership role.
- Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
- Be able to provide effective liaison with colleagues in the wider system, as well as other statutory / non statutory services relevant to people and their ongoing needs
- Provide evidence of continuing CPD as recommended by a professional registration body
- Possess doctoral level knowledge (or its equivalent) of research design and methodology, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical/counselling psychology.
- Knowledge of policy and legislation in relation to service specialism and of relevant mental health legislation.
- Knowledge of current psychological evidence base and best practice in working within specialist area.
- Implement skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management, frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Possess well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical & /or clinically sensitive information to people using the service, their families, carers, and other colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Ability to teach, train and provide consultation to others both within and outside the NHS, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations in public, professional and academic settings
- Possess well developed skills in clinical leadership and the clinical supervision of others.
- To use own initiative and to work under supervision where appropriate.
- To work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and to liaise effectively with other professionals.
- Skills in organising and facilitating groups for the provision of psychological interventions.
