We currently have a new one year fixed term vacancy in the haematology CNS service for an AML CNS. The individual will provide high-quality cancer nursing service to patients throughout their cancer journey, with responsibility for enhancing the patient experience, ensuring continuity of care and influencing patient pathways.

Are you self-motivated, enthusiastic, eager to learn and keen to develop the skills to work both autonomously and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team? As a Band 7 you will be expected to meet the essential criteria and possess appropriate post registration experience in haematology nursing and hold a relevant degree. Along with excellent communication, written and computer skills, you will need to be organised and able to work both autonomously and as part of the team. Through face to face and telephone/video contact, you will provide advice, support and information to patients and their families/carers. You will be expected to support nurse-led clinics and actively participate in audit and service improvement.

We are looking for innovative individuals who would be interested in working within the haematology multidisciplinary team at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. As this is a fixed term contract, a Band 6 Post would be considered for those not fully meeting the essential criteria with in the JD. This could be an exciting opportunity for a secondment for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust staff.

Main duties of the job

Provide specialist nursing advice, care and support to patients with, haematology cancer and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and in line with local and national targets.

At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. Where appropriate acting as a 'key worker'.

Work to improve the patient experience throughout the patient journey.

Deputise for their line manager in designated tasks relevant to the development of role/clinical speciality.

Act as professional role model, providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research.

Person Specification

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
  • Post registration qualification(s) in speciality or relevant subject e.g Haematology specific course such as Principles of Haemato-Oncology Care or equivalent or Cancer care course
  • Advanced Communication course and Level 2 psychological skills training.


Desirable

  • MSc or MA in related speciality
  • Recognised physical assessment module at level 7


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Relevant and substantial post registration experience at band 6 or above to speciality
  • Experience of working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Experience of teaching and assessing others
  • Experience of audit and service development


Desirable

  • Research experience
  • Experience of leading and managing


SKILLS AND ABILITY

Essential

  • In depth knowledge of speciality and use of evidence-based practice


Desirable

  • Ability to lead and influence change
