We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist with proven clinical and leadership skills to join our multi disciplinary team on a 12 month secondment/ fixed term contract basis. You will jointly lead the Physiotherapy team with the current Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist.
The post is based predominantly on Kings Lodge Neurological Rehabilitation Unit at the Florence Nightingale Community hospital, a 19 bedded unit treating patients with a wide range of neurological conditions.
You will carry a caseload of patients with complex neurological conditions as well as supporting others to do so.
You will manage a team of therapists based on Kings Lodge as well as therapists in the Neuro Inreach and Medical teams based at Royal Derby Hospital, working alongside an experienced MDT including Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists, Specialist Rehabilitation nurses and Doctors.
Alongside the clinical role, you will also be an integral part of the Kings Lodge Senior team, including day to day management of admissions and discharges.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the current Band 7 Specialist Physiotherapist in planning, co-ordinating and delivering services both on Kings Lodge and the Neurological In reach Team.
To provide support, guidance, training and evaluation of qualified and unqualified staff. This would be to Physiotherapists and other Health Care Professionals both within the trust and externally.
To ensure professionalism and excellent communication with staff, patients and relatives in routine and complex circumstances, including holding difficult conversations.
To be part of the Senior management team, taking responsibility for the unit's smooth running on a day to basis, including bed management, referrals and day to day MDT staffing (including Nursing).
To effectively manage the ward / department resources including, pay and non-pay budgets, human resources and the clinical environment with the support of the Senior Team.
.To assess and treat patients with Neurological presentations including spasticity management, seating, 24 hour postural management and complex discharge planning.
