The Director of Midwifery and Nursing - Women's Health & Breast (DOM) will lead and advocate for safe, high quality maternity, gynaecology and breast care, leading the strategic and operational delivery of local services.

ULHT Maternity services are on an exciting improvement journey are are looking to recruit a dynamic enthusiastic Director of Midwifery to support continued improvements. The Maternity service has recently been rated good by the CQC and has been able to submit full compliance with CNST year 5 and 6.

Main duties of the job

The DOM is a key position, accountable to the Director of Nursing, with a prime focus on the day-to-day delivery of high standards of patient centred care across integrated care pathways and services and operational delivery.

Professional midwifery leadership is a key and fundamental function of the DOM role, professionally accountable to the Director of Nursing, with a focus on the strategic delivery of high standards of midwifery, Gynae and breast services across the 3 sites. The role involves working in partnership with other organisations across the Integrated Care System (ICS) and the post holder will develop and maintain a network of mutually beneficial relationships with the LMNS, maternity providers, Public Health England, Health Education England, Care Quality Commission, the Regional Chief Midwife, the Royal Colleges and other key stakeholders. This is with the aim of taking forward national polices for patients across the ICS and developing a long term strategic vision that enables high quality and sustainable services contributing to the provision of high quality care, improved outcomes and improved family experiences.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oRM and current NMC registration, UK
  • oMSc or relevant equivalent experience
  • oRelevant leadership qualification
  • oManagement qualification or additional short courses


Desirable

  • Doctorate or willing to work towards


Previous experience

Essential

  • oRecent experience at senior level in an acute health care setting
  • oExtensive knowledge of complex and acute (staff management/financial management and change management) including sound knowledge of public involvement
  • oExtensive knowledge of and experience in the operational management of hospital services
  • oAdvanced management/leadership experience of clinical teams
  • oSound understanding of clinical governance and risk management processes
  • oProven experience in developing Trust wide strategy.
