The Home treatment Service in Somerset is going through an exciting period of expansion. We are looking for a very motivated and committed individual with a lot of passion and enthusiasm for leading and managing a team.

The role is for a Team Manager of our First Response Hub, which is part of the Home Treatment Service based in Taunton, Somerset. The Service is responsible for maintaining the 24 hr, 7 day a week service in this area.

The Hub aims to meet the needs of service users who are experiencing a mental health crisis, providing urgent triage and brief intervention.

The service will deliver advice / support / psychologically informed brief interventions and transfer or make onward referral to appropriate services as per 'No wrong door' ethos. This could include a range of services including mental health urgent care services, Open Mental Health, Talking Therapies and voluntary sector services (including Mindline, Second Step, Rethink, Crisis Safe Space). Referrals can be self-referral or from family, friends, carers, GPs, police, ambulance, 111 service, third sector agencies, other professionals etc.

Main duties of the job

The applicant will have a hands on clinical leadership role within the team and will have excellent psychosocial assessment, risk assessment/management including positive risk taking skills and knowledge. The post holder is pivotal in ensuring that the team deliver high quality and effective interventions to people in contact with our services.

The post holder as team manager will be responsible for leading the delivery of the Trusts strategic priorities in respect of the home treatment service and work alongside and report to the Operational Service Manager for Home Treatment services.

They will form part of the management structure and work alongside other managers in a similar position to ensure a high quality of service is delivered across the countywide Home Treatment service as a whole.

They will maintain and work to improve quality, safe and compassionate patient care within the financial budget.

The post holder will maintain a 24 hour, 7 day a week multi-disciplinary First Response Hub within the mental health service in the region of Somerset.

  • RMN, Dip SW, OT
Desirable
  • Post reg exp or training in leadership
Knowledge and experience Essential
  • Significant community or inpatient experience
  • Leading and managing others and delegating appropriately
  • Experience of appraising and managing others performance and work quality.
  • Experience of Audit and interpreting data relevant to the service.
Desirable
  • Being involved in service development/organisational change process.
Specific skills Essential
  • Ability to reflect on own practice and act on lessons learned
  • Ability to supervise staff of different disciplines and multidisciplinary teams
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) in dealing with people at all levels
  • Risk assessment and risk management skills.
Physical and emotional effort Essential
  • Liaising with distressed patients, and their relatives, by telephone and in person to support and manage the process of care
  • Ability to apply and respond positively to performance management process.
