We are seeking a Locum Specialty Doctor to work with our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in various locations across Hertfordshire.

This is a hugely exciting time for the Trust having recently achieved anOUTSTANDING CQC RATINGand being one of just five mental health and learning disabilities NHS trusts in England to hold an outstanding rating.

Main duties of the job

HPFT is seeking a CAMHS Specialty Doctor to provide mental health assessments on both new referrals and open cases, and continuing treatment in drug or psychological therapies. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of people of working age from his/her catchment area who are referred or otherwise present to secondary care mental health services. The post holder will work closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies as appropriate in providing a comprehensive tier 3+ CAMH service for the under 18 population.

You must ensure the relevant professional registration is maintained, including Section 12.

Duties include, but not exclusive to:
  • To work closely with the multidisciplinary team and other agencies as appropriate in providing a comprehensive tier 3+ CAMH service for the under 18
  • To provide mental health assessments on both new referrals and open cases, and continuing treatment in drug or psychological therapies.

  • To participate in various medical staff meetings within the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Trust as
  • To participate in daytime on-call rota for emergency


  • Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • Fully registered Medical Practitioner with the General Medical Council (GMC). Possesion of a current License to Practise.
    • Section 12 Approved
    Experience, Skills & Knowledge Essential
    • 3 years or more post MBBS
    • 2 years or more experience working in Psychiatry
    • Willingness and ability to work with others to achieve shared goals
    • Previous experience of working in a child and adolescent service.
    • Experience of working in a multi- disciplinary team.
    Desirable
    • 2 years or more experience working in Psychiatry
    • Previous experience of working in a child and adolescent service.
    • Experience of working in a multi- disciplinary team.
