An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist fixed term for eighteen-month post within the Regional Prosthetic Service/Ward Based Amputee Rehab.The successful applicant will be integral in supporting expansion of the existing amputee service, providing holistic patient centred occupational therapy interventions to its service users.
Main duties of the job
You will work within the Surgery team specialising in amputee rehabilitation providing a service across our in and out patients areas, this covers several sites across the Trust and the wider regional area.
The post will be based between the Regional Prosthetic Service and Regional Vascular Unit at the Freeman Hospital, working collaboratively with the Band 7 team lead you will be providing a high quality service to this complex group of patients.
You will be able to work effectively with the Ward Based Therapy Team, wider MDT and Community Services. The role is aimed at providing a seamless service for the complete amputee journey.You will be expected to develop patient pathways, undertake evidence based audits and complete research projects in conjunction with the Clinical lead band 7 occupational therapist to develop and enhance your personal and clinical practice. You will be expected to supervise junior staff and participate in education of students on placement.
You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, and a sound knowledge of the role of OT within an acute hospital setting. Experience of working with lower limb amputees is essential along with sound knowledge of the OT role within the vascular setting.
