We are ideally looking for an experienced oncology nurse, to join our team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated band 7 CNS This role will focus on our patients with advanced Prostate Cancer. You will join our dynamic and friendly Uro -oncology clinical Nurse Specialist team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, based on the Charing Cross site You must be an experienced Uro-Oncology nurse, having had the experience of providing personalised care to men with Prostate cancer in the Urology and oncology setting. As well as having excellent time management and communication skills. Experience in running nurse led clinics would be desirable although not essential.

ICHT is a urological cancer centre, providing diagnostics as well as state of the art treatments. We are looking for a dynamic experienced nurse with good communication skills, who has an interest in developing their CNS skills or extending their current portfolio of skills and abilities. You need to be able to prioritise your workload and assist us in meeting NHS Cancer waiting times and RMP targets, whilst maintaining the patient experience and supporting them and their families through their pathway.

Main duties of the job

  • A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at an enhanced level within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advise on, and support patients.
  • CNSs have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a skilled advisor for patients, or a resource for others.
  • CNSs perform specialist holistic assessment and treatment using a personalised approach. This is characterised by a level of decision making based on detailed knowledge and understanding of their area of practice.
  • As part of the multidisciplinary team CNSs can work in or across many settings, depending on their area of expertise and scope of practice.

Education/ qualifications

  • NMC registration and a degree in related subject.
  • Recognised teaching qualification or demonstratable teaching experience

  • MSc or MA in related speciality
  • Recognised physical assessment module at level 7

  • Relevant and substantial post registration experience at band 6 or above to speciality
