We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB). The UHB serves a diverse and growing population; it provides health care services to its local residents and also hosts a range of regional and national specialist services, including the Children's Hospital for Wales.

Main duties of the job

Band 6 Specialist SLT Early Years

The post holder will be contribute to the delivery of specialist Speech and Language Therapy services to a caseload of children with speech, language and communication difficulties and complex needs as part of the Early Years team.

The service will be delivered in community clinics and in educational provisions. The post offers the opportunity to work closely with families and schools to empower them in providing supportive communication environments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications/ Experience Essential
  • Registered with HCPC
  • 2 years relevent experience working with children in the early years
  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
Desirable
  • Experience of working with children with a range of difficulties in the Early Years
  • Member of RCSLT
  • Working in partnership with other professionals
CPD Essential
  • Evidence of CPD relevant to working with children 0-5 years.
Desirable
  • Trained in PECS
  • Trained in ACI
  • Experience of using Makaton
Special Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of evidence based treatment approaches in the early years.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of ALNET
  • Training in Advanced Clinical Decision Making.
