An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Learning Disability Nurse to join the Cwm Taf South Community Learning Disability Team.

Main duties of the job

The Registered Nurse will have an understanding of the knowledge and skills of the professional activities within a Community Support Team within the field of Learning Disabilities.

You will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload and will liaise with both social and healthcare professionals to meet client need.

You will supervise junior team members and their caseloads by implementing clinical and service pathways and adhering to legislative frameworks.

You will participate in systems and structures, which promote the rights, responsibilities and diversities of people with a learning disability.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential for this post.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

  • RNLD Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of Post Registration Education to Degree level or working towards.


Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of experience working within a multi-disciplinary/mult agency context.
  • Experience/knowledge of risk management.
  • Experience of working with families.
  • Experience of working with individuals with complex health needs and those with challenging behaviour.
  • Detailed knowledge of supervision systems.
  • Evidence of clinical leadership.


Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to evidence excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to demonstarte ability to assess clients, develop and monitor care plans for a group of complex individuals
  • Be able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when working with others.
  • Evidence of undertaking presentation to groups and demostrating teaching and Ability to speak Welsh Interview CAJE REF: RVC/2022/0186 7 Important - If any changes are made to this job description, it is the manager's responsibility to ensure that the amended JD is sent to Job Evaluation for review prior to use assessing skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload amongst competing demands.
  • Experience of resolving/addressing complex situations where conflict may be a factor.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Health Board and National Policy frameworks, funding issues e.g. CHC, relevant legislation e.g. MHA, MCA, MHM.
  • Demonstrate evidence of ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to organise self to work efficiently and effectively.
