The vacancy also attracts an additional £1401 per annum forensic lead payment.



We are currently recruiting for mental health charge nurses to join our friendly and supportive team at Bluebird House where you will the opportunity to continue your personal development to help your further your career.

We will provide you with a robust and supportive welcome programme; including our local CAMHS Induction day and Training day.

Give you the opportunity to apply to enrol on the Children’s and Young Persons Mental Health Inpatient Training Programme with the University of Reading. This is an innovative 10-day research informed training programme, spread over 5 weeks.

If you are a newly qualified nurse, you will be offered a comprehensive preceptorship when you come to join us.

As a registered professional you will automatically become a member of our Academy of Clinical Excellence (ACE) which has a specific focus on the professional development and career progression of our nurses and Allied Health Professionals. As part of ACE’s commitment to you, our development pathway for band 6’s focuses on enhancing your competence and confidence as a senior clinician and leader. As such, you will have access to masters level academic study with our partner universities as well as access to a variety of internal and external leadership programmes, workshops and support tools. The Academy encourages all our registrants to engage with service improvement, research and facilitating learning and a range of opportunities to support these core professional activities is available from ACE. To help you progress your journey with us, you will have access to a ‘Career Navigation’ conversation which will help you explore your career aspirations and make decisions about your career trajectory

Bluebird House is one of six Forensic Children’s mental health units in the country and one of only two that accept both male and female patients.

We offer a fun and dynamic environment where we prioritise the best outcomes for the young people we care for.

You will have the opportunity to work with some of the most complex 12-18 year olds in the country who experience complex mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Many of the young people we help have experienced previous placements breakdown, prior to being admitted to Bluebird. We always ensure we spend a lot of time building a relationship with all of our young people by providing a safe, controlled environment.

As a staff nurse you will develop, implement and evaluate care plans in conjunction with service users, carers and other professionals ensuring individual needs are met.

You will carry out all relevant forms of care and will be designated to take charge of a ward in the absence of a charge nurse.
