We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Senior Psychologist to join the specialist CAMHS eating disorder service.

As a Clinical Psychologist in the team you would contribute to the core CAMHS Eating Disorders Team, including offering Initial Assessments, Reviews and Interventions with children, young people and their families to actively formulate and manage clinical need and risk.

The successful applicant will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team with a base in Winchester but working across Hampshire supporting clinicians.

It is an exciting time to join Hampshire EDT, this post will support our wider work and pathway for children and young people identified with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, more commonly known as ARFID. The condition is characterised by a person's avoidance certain foods or types of food, having restricted intake in terms of overall amount eaten, or both.

ARFID can have a negative impact on the person's physical health as well as their psychological wellbeing. Children and young people may fail to gain weight as expected and their growth may be affected.

You will be given the opportunity to consider supervisory roles appropriate to your stage of development, as the team includes Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement from doctoral training at the University of Southampton

Main duties of the job

You would be a key team member providing effective leadership, consultation and supervision to colleagues as well as trainee clinical psychologists.

You will work alongside a group of experienced and highly motivated clinicians who will support you in your career journey. We have established processes and a great supportive leadership team enabling you to develop further.

We have a range of remote working possibilities giving the clinical team utmost flexibility to work safely and effectively.

The service leadership team is supportive and encourages clinicians to prioritise their wellbeing in order to help maintain good work-life balance.

You will deliver one to one and groupwork interventions to young people and families, undertake initial assessments, support duty, clinically supervise as well as line manage colleagues, and contribute to the smooth running of work in the team.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team offering assessments and interventions to children and young people experiencing severe and enduring psychological distress in the context of their mental health needs and eating disorders.

The successful candidate will receive regular supervision from the Senior Clinical Psychologist within the team alongside development and support from Principle Clinical Psychologists in the wider service .

There are regular opportunities to link with other Hampshire CAMHS Clinical Psychologists across the service, as well as access training opportunities offered by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.

• Doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the HPC
• Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
• Evidence of significant post-qualification experience working as an applied psychologist and continual professional development

Knowledge/Experience Essential

• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
• Demonstrate specialist experience gained postqualification of working as an applied psychologist with evidence of having received a substantial amount of clinical supervision (normally in the region of approximately 50 hours)
• Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology
• Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
• Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework.
• Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
• Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups (e.g. personality disorder, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities etc)
• High level of knowledge and skills in neuropsychology and evidence of further practice and/or training since qualification
• Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
• Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC
