We are looking for an experienced Systemic Family Therapist to join our forward thinking Bristol, South Gloucester and North Somerset CAMHS. We have a commitment to systemic practice, recognising the importance of a systemic perspective when working with children and young people.

The post holder will bring enthusiasm and leadership to the multi-disciplinary team and will offer consultation, supervision and clinical expertise to ensure children and young people are offered effective systemic interventions. The service offers training opportunities to systemic family practitioners and MSc students we have a commitment to the development and supervision of our systemic professionals with longstanding links to the University of Exeter.

The post will include taking the lead on the Eating Disorder pathway, coordinating systemic clinics, working with families and upskilling others in the team.

Although this post is a Band 8a and aimed at more experienced Systemic Family Therapists, we are happy to consider and interview those who may be more recently qualified and interested in a 12 month development role. Both in-house and external training will be available as appropriate.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on the assessment and treatment for young people presenting with a range of mental health presentations, including Eating Disorders for which we have a specific pathway of care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To take the lead and supervise specific systemic interventions within a CAMHS team. To lead on a local provision for Eating Disorders in order to meet the needs of those referred and to work alongside all ED teams across BNSSG. To take the lead in offering systemic interventions in accordance with the CCHP care pathways and according to NICE guidance. To liaise and work effectively with professionals within partnership agencies. To ensure that appropriate levels of clinical supervision are maintained and that clinical governance is of an excellent standard. To participate fully in the work of CAMHS, as well as participating in the referral and assessment process (Choice & Partnership Approach). To train others & offer supervised clinics for example, Systemic Msc and Systemic Family Practice To exercise responsibility for the governance of systemic practice through contributing to the development of policy and procedures guiding its application in a local CAMHS setting. To apply a sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and child development to work with young people and families referred to CAMHS and identify when to refer to other agencies. As an experienced clinician, to use professional skills in on-going clinical evaluation, which will include the use of appropriate routine outcome measures and through responding effectively to feedback from members of the client and professional system. Person Specification

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Qualified Family Therapist with appropriate Registration
  • Evidence of significant CPD


Desirable

  • Family Therapy or IAPT Systemic Practice Supervisor qualification
  • FT-AN or FBT Training


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post qualifying experience of offering Family Therapy in CAMHS
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team to delivery assessment and treatment with children, young people and families experiencing a variety of mental health conditions
  • Significant experience working with eating disorder presentations
  • Evidence of offering anti-racist practice


Desirable

  • Experience of offering Clinical Supervision
  • Significant experience in working in the treatment of Eating Disorders


Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills with Children, families and colleagues
  • Ability to present coherent, well written clinical reports of a variety of purposes
  • Knowledge of and skill in using a variety of approaches and methods within systemic practice (i.e. social constructionist, narrative, solution focused, etc.) as required to work with individuals, couples, family systems, groups and organisations.


Desirable

  • Skills in providing advanced level systemic/ Family Therapy training and supervision to other professionals.
