DSFS Ltd based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital are looking to recruit into the role of Assistant Income Accountant (12 month secondment cover). This is a key role supporting the Head of Income for both internal and external income reporting. The role will support the monthly monitoring of activity tying in with the Trust's annual income budget of circa �365m.

Hybrid working is currently available for this role, once initial induction is completed, in addition to access to our flexi-time policy.

Main duties of the job

Assist the Head of Income in the control, maintenance & development of the Trust's Income Reporting System.

Ensure the collection, formatting, validation and inputting of activity and income files to ensure the accurate and timely production of Trust income and activity monitoring data.

To assist in the submission of the Trust's Income data, to meet Commissioner deadlines and be a key contact for multiple stakeholders, particularly Informatics.

Assist the Head of Income with the preparation and agreement of annual income budgets for the trust and maintain accurate records of all budget setting and budget movements.

Proactively investigate variances and provide analytical reports on areas specifically requested by the Head of Income.

Support the on-going review of recording of patient activity providing feedback to the informatics department and Divisional teams for improvement.

To maintain accurate records pertinent to commercial contracts, Service Level Agreements including provider to provider contracts and internal trading agreements.

Support monthly control account reconciliations in conjunction with other Assistant Accountants.

Write and maintain desktop procedures, specifically in respect of all incomes processes and control accounts the job holder is responsible for.

Deputise where necessary for the Head of Income at meetings, both internally and externally.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's level 4 or equivalent including Maths and English
  • Part qualified AAT or equivalent finance qualification at NVQ level 3
  • AAT full qualification or equivalent finance qualification at NVQ level 4 (L4)


Desirable

  • AAT full qualification or equivalent NVQ level 4
  • Actively studying towards a CCAB qualification
  • Degree level education


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of computerised financial applications
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience of working effectively in a team
  • Relevant experience of computerised financial applications (L4)
  • Detailed understanding of accounting principles (L4)
  • Management accountancy, financial accountancy or costing experience (L4)


Desirable

  • Previous experience within NHS finance
  • Management accountancy, financial accountancy or costing experience
  • Experience of NHS Income Reporting systems (L4)
  • Working experience of manipulation of data


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Excellent IT skills specifically intermediate spread sheet techniques ie lookups, pivot tables, multilevel sorting, filtering calcs etc
  • Proven ability to prioritise workload
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including preparation and presentation of financial information
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to design and adapt advanced spreadsheet and/or databases (L4)
  • Ability to analyses and interpret basic information
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial information with a range of options. (L4)


Desirable

  • Good understanding of current NHS issues
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial information
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically excel at advance level techniques
  • Understanding of NHS Contract Monitoring
  • SQL skills
  • Microsoft Power BI or similar report writing skills
