We are looking for a highly self-motivated specialist nurses/extended scope physiotherapist to join the established team of Triage and Treat Practitioners, facilitating care for patients with back and /or radicular pain.

The Triage and Treat Practitioner Team provide a single access point leading to a high quality service to patients suffering with back pain and radicular pain. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills in a supportive and friendly environment.

In the event we are unable to appoint a successful candidate to the Triage and Treat Practitioner role, a developmental Trainee TTP role will be considered at Band 7 level. This will be based on candidates meeting elements of the essential criteria and following careful consideration at interview. We would encourage those who do not meet all of the essential criteria to apply on this basis.

In a development role it would be expected that the post holder would already have significant experience in specialist area but might need time/ support/ training to consolidate and enhance skills and knowledge required to work at this expert level. It would also be expected that they would complete and attain MSc level qualification before progression to higher banding would be considered

Main duties of the job

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a �35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current valid registration with relevant professional body i.e HCPC, NMC
  • Degree or equivalent diploma in Physiotherapy/ Nursing
  • Relevant Masters level qualification
  • oSpecialist qualification / education or experience relevant to specialist area of practice.
  • oTo have ongoing evidence of continued professional development within the specialist field


Desirable

  • Advanced study in relevant area of practice
  • Counselling certificate
  • Evidence of Leadership course having been completed.


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post registration experience working at a senior level within speciality area.
  • Experience in managing change
  • Knowledge of leading in a team
  • Experience teaching formal programmes or courses to patients and/or other staff.
  • Experience leading and presenting Audit/research
  • Experience of student and junior supervision
  • Experience in delivering CBT programmes.


Desirable

  • Experience in providing counselling to patient and to support staff
