We have a full-time, Band 5 (indicative) Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist position available across York and Selby.
You'll work in educational, clinical, and home settings, supporting diverse speech, language, and communication needs.
Our team of 22 can provide great support for your learning and development. We recently won an award for our service improvements and will be presenting these achievements at regional and national levels.
We're looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills, a passion for advocating for our patients, and a commitment to personal and team development. You will manage your own caseload, help lead group interventions, and deliver training.
Interviews will be held the 17th October 2024
The ability to transport yourself and equipment across the locality during the course of a normal working day is required for this vacancy. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

- Deliver safe and effective therapy, managing your own caseload of patients with diverse communication, learning, physical, psychological, and cognitive needs.

- Participate in regular supervision and ongoing professional development.

- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance service standards.
- Advocate for individuals with speech, language, communication, and swallowing needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and promote safe, non-discriminatory practice.
- Align practice with Trust strategies and policies.
- Deliver training sessions to peers, students, service users, and other professionals.
- Develop and appraise therapy resources, ensuring they are evidence-based, relevant, and accessible.

Essential
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist
Desirable
- Evidence of postgraduate training within speech and language therapy or a specialist area.
- Practice placement supervisor qualification
- Evidence of relevant CPD activities
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Evidence of robust knowledge base relevant to role that applies to the management of a range of conditions.
- Evidence of reflective practice from work experience or student placements.
- Experience in completing assessment, clinical reasoning, delivering clinical interventions and evaluating outcomes within speech and language therapy (could be within student placements).
- Awareness of current issues in health care.
- Awareness of Standards of Professional Practice.
Desirable
- NHS experience through placement and/or employment work
- Experience in managing a range of clinical presentations
- Knowledge of outcome measures to evaluate therapy
- Developed clinical skills within relevant area
