Are you passionate about diabetes care?
The post holder will need to be highly visible and to have an accessible approach for women, their relatives/ carers and staff.
To facilitate this, the role should be mainly Monday to Friday within core hours (8am-6pm). This may vary, and be subject to review, depending on the speciality service needs. The post requires cross-site covering Doncaster and Bassetlaw maternity units.
Through this exciting role you will work as a part of an Multi-disciplinary team including obstetricians, specialist diabetic nurses and endocrinologists.
The successful candidate needs to be dynamic and focused on service improvement to improve outcomes of women and babies .

Main duties of the job
Support the diabetic team to provide specialist midwifery support to for the diabetes in pregnancy service, with a focus on gestational diabetes.
Be an autonomous practitioner within the team, being responsible for clinical care as appropriate
Monitor and audit standards for women with diabetes during childbirth, linking with the wider public health network and ensuring that audits and assurance reports are completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
Develop and deliver high quality training for the maternity workforce in line with core competency frameworks and local learning needs analysis
Work in collaboration with the maternal medicine lead to support care and oversight of services for women with pre-existing diabetes

- Current NMC registration as a Midwife
- Qualified Degree Level in relevant Midwifery course
- Recognised management / leadership qualification
- Commitment to professional development and evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Mentorship and/or Teaching qualification

- oPost graduate degree at Master level or relevant experience.

- Conversant with NMC rules and code of governing practice
- Qualified midwife with a minimum of 3 years' continuous experience as a band 6 midwife
- Able to engage with service users and support coproduction
- Previous experience of working with women with comorbidities, diabetes and high risk pregnancies
- Understanding of the impact of inequalities and deprivation on maternity outcomes and experience
- Evidence of experience or knowledge of change management or quality improvements
