Imperial College Healthcare Trust are looking for an experienced midwife practitioner who is confident in their safeguarding knowledge and skills to support our small and established team.
We are an integrated safeguarding team led by the Consultant Nurse for Safeguarding that covers maternity, childrens, adults, domestic abuse modern slavery as well as Autism and Learning Disablity. Working alongside specialist colleagues in these fields leads to an exciting and supportive environment with lots of cross learning and teamwork.
Main duties of the job
Accumulate a good range of experience with pregnant clients and their families in a community setting and is able to demonstrate high quality of safeguarding functionality.
Understanding and assessing social risk towards children and in an adult safeguarding context.
Understanding of the processes of Children's safeguarding in relation to pregnant women/people and their families.
Confidence in attending various MDT and external meetings in relation to safeguarding.
Range of experience with vulnerable pregnant clients and their families in a community or acute setting and are able to demonstrate a keen interest and expert understanding of maternity.
Understanding and assessing social risk towards children and in an adult safeguarding context as the role covers a range of activities and all locations at Imperial healthcare trust in relation to pregnant women/people.

The trust has 2 A+Es of which one is a trauma centre that we work alongside particularly in relation to think family and contextual safeguarding. Based in Inner London we support, assess and work with a very broad variety of maternity safeguarding cases- certainly no two days are the same!
Based in the maternity safeguarding team, you will be part of a team that provides training, education, advice, and supervision. Currently the team is a Named Midwife with two band 7s and one band 6 with admin support. The role will require you to work cross-sites at Queen Charlotte's and St Mary's hospitals.

- You need to deal with a number of administration tasks, so naturally excellent IT skills are essential (particularly word, excel, PowerPoint etc). Includes patient-facing interaction and support to divisional staff as appropriate. The ability to prioritise workload depending on urgency and deadline working is necessary for this role. You will have a thorough understanding of the legal and social care processes that underpin Children's Social Work in relation to pregnant women / people and their families in relation to the Children Act (2004) and other legislation (eg Domestic Violence Act 2020).
