The post holder will provide holistic nursing care for patients with Specialist Palliative healthcare needs. They will ensure that prescribed treatments areproperly administered and that appropriate and accurate records are maintained. The post holder will be required to develop individualized care plans, including those for specialist interventions, to meet the specific needs of patients without direct supervision. This post has an important part to play in providing holistic support to families and those closest to the patient. The post holder is expected to support senior nurses and deputise in their absence, which will involve making independent clinical decisions.
Further to training and gaining experience the post holder will be required to take charge of the ward whilst on shift. The post holder is expected to undertake shift patterns over 24/7 which will be flexible to the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a nurse who has personal resilience and can manage the care required to patients and their loved ones who are showing emotions expected of those who are living with a short life expectancy. The post holder will be expected to assist in coordinating and evaluating learning anddevelopment opportunities as well as develop teaching programs for student nurses and assess learning in practice. The post holder is expected to develop their own skills and knowledge to improve nursing care.The service aims to provide planned and robust induction period. The post holder will be expected to be an active participant in clinical supervision and annual appraisals.
