We are looking to enhance our clinical team working within the Health Based Places of Safety (HBPOS) based on our Adult Acute Inpatient units in Derbyshire. Across Derbyshire we have 2 HBPOS and a third being built due to open in 2024. The team is new and will consist of Band 7 Clinical Lead and Operational Manager Band 6 Lead Nurses, Band 5 Registered Nurses HBPOS Facilitators, and Band 3 Health Care Assistants.
This work can be exciting, challenging and rewarding. The team are looking for someone who is compassionate, caring, and able to lead and direct the team. This is an exciting and brand-new role which will primarily be based within a team in the HBPOS, providing support to persons who have been detained by the Police under Section 136. When you are not in the HBPOS you may be asked to provide support to any of the wards within the unit where you are based dependent on other clinical commitments of the role. With this at times will be bleep holder responsibilities.
The Lead Nurse role is a Trust wide role and as such there will be an expectation to travel across sites, and at times this will be both planned and unplanned, dependent on the needs of the service and the team, however you will have a permanent base most of the time.
Main duties of the job
Section 136 HBPOS is on the Adult Acute Inpatient Pathway and all applications are welcome from Registered Mental Health Nurses. The HBPOS plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in crisis, who have been detained under section 136 of the MHA and have been brought to await an in-depth assessment within a 24-hour period. The HBPOS is a nurse led service, and you will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to carry out a diverse range of duties. This highly cohesive team will work very closely to support each other and there is a clear focus on growth and professional development of our nurses. This is supported through mentorship, supervision, training, teaching sessions and access to development days.
Main duties of the role will be to work alongside the Clinical Lead, and HCAs to support, supervise and lead the newly developed 136 team and other services who facilitate the HBPOS, namely the inpatient units. To support the teams who facilitate the use of the HBPOS and support the person awaiting to be assessed.
