Mental Health Practitioner - Band 5, High Volume Users Team:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Practitioner within the High Volume Users Team based at the Harplands Hospital. This vacancy would suit someone who is looking for an exciting opportunity and wants to work as part of a successful Team.

Our High Volume Users Team is part of the Crisis Care Centre, at Harplands Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent this has been designed to the highest level of specification. This modern purpose designed unit will be the central point for all those in need of a Crisis Assessment/Intervention, teams within the Crisis Care Centre will include Mental Health Access Team, Home Treatment Team, High Volume Users Team and two beds to provide a place of safety for those detained on a section 136.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the delivery of care and for the supervision of non-registered staff who are carrying out all aspects of the caring process. The post-holder will assist in setting and maintaining standards of care, whilst maintaining effective integration with the multi-disciplinary team and assist with the facilitation of a collaborative approach to patient focussed care.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1.1. Registered Nurses will administer and manage medicines according to policy and local protocol. To assess patient response and provide advice and education to junior staff and both patient and carers in respect of prescribed medicines

1.2. Provide support and guidance to junior or less experienced staff in the planning and delivery of care.

1.3. Maintain the therapeutic milieu, taking a proactive approach, supervising and supporting others in the same. Planning clinical activity in accordance with the needs of the service.

1.4. Taking prompt action on changes in condition, liaising with other members of the clinical (Multi-disciplinary) team when necessary, reviewing nursing care and communicating any amendments to the care delivery.

1.5. Develop skills in respect of specific interventions that are appropriate to the clinical area, act as a lead in developing nursing practice in relation to this.
