An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Division of Surgery for an accredited Clinical / Nurse Endoscopist to join our well-established endoscopy team, providing excellent service. Clinical/Nurse Endoscopists play a vital role within the endoscopy unit, contributing to its strategic development to ensure outstanding care for current and future patients, while also ensuring that all national and local targets for waiting times are achieved, thereby promoting a positive patient experience.
The post holder will collaborate closely with the Clinical Directors, Lead Clinical Endoscopist, Service Manager, and Matron to provide the best possible service for patients accessing the service, following agreed protocols, guidelines, and pathways for patients undergoing GI investigations.
Main duties of the job
As an expert practitioner, the post holder will work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise to maintain clinical excellence. The role involves independently performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy on both sedated and non-sedated patients.
This position is ideal for a trained endoscopist with dual modality experience however, consideration will also be given to candidates accredited in either Upper GI or Lower GI endoscopy. The post holder is expected to perform up to a maximum of five endoscopy lists per week, along with follow-up clinics to inform patients of their endoscopic test results where appropriate.

In return, you will have the opportunity to work with highly skilled endoscopists, further develop your skills, and support others in gaining additional accreditation as required.
Please note that this position may require some evening, weekend, and cross-site work to meet service needs.
