Exciting times! Our psychology team is expanding, and we are excited to welcome another Clinical Psychologist to our dynamic Lincoln Core CAMHS team.

We are looking for candidates who share our values related to creative and critical thinking, holistic patient-centred care, integrated working and providing evidence-based interventions in a compassionate way.

We have an 8a position available, which we are also offering as a preceptorship (from Band 7-8a). You will receive the clinical supervision and training required to meet the needs of this role and we welcome final year clinical psychology applicants and those recently qualified. You will be able to claim mileage costs from Lincoln CAMHS base.

You will have the opportunity to complete additional training, which includes Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Our psychology team provides consultation, training, and clinical supervision to professionals based in health and social care. Psychologists in the Lincoln CORE team also provide specialist assessment and intervention to children/young people and their families

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist clinical psychology assessments and interventions for children, young people and their families who are referred to the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (LPFT CAMHS).

You will assist with the provision of CAMHS from 9am-5pm Mon to Friday and may also be required to work one evening a week up to 8pm dependant on service need.

You will be expected to be able to engage with and work effectively with vulnerable young people and their carers, (including Looked After Children, children and young people with mild to severe Learning Disabilities young people who are / have been in contact with the Youth Justice Service), and will be able to support and advise CAMHS colleagues in the provision of therapy to these young people.

You will have specialist training and experience and will be expected to work autonomously within professional guidelines as well as liaise closely with other professionals and volunteers who work with children and young people and their carers and families. You will provide supervision to less experienced psychologists and consultation to other professionals. You will provide regular placements to trainee clinical psychologists and will use your research skills to undertake research and development and audit activities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people referred to LPFT core CAMHS, and their carers and families, where the presenting difficulties and concerns can be managed as a psychologically based intervention.
  • To develop and provide a range of specialist clinical psychology assessments and interventions either as the sole clinician or in conjunction with other CAMHS colleagues with other staff and agencies responsible for providing services to children and young people and their carers and families.
  • To act as case coordinator/lead professional where appropriate. To develop and provide a range of specialist clinical psychology assessments and interventions to vulnerable children and young people including Looked After Children children and young people who have mild to severe Learning Disabilities children who are at risk of contact with, or who have contact with, the Youth Justice Service. To provide specialist clinical psychology assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people who have been the victims of sexual abuse.
  • To provide specialist clinical psychology assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people who are presenting with sexually concerning behaviours. To provide specialist developmental assessments, including cognitive assessments, to help understand underlying learning difficulties which may be impacting on a childs/young person's functioning.


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BPS accredited Honours degree in Psychology or equivalent.
  • A Doctorate in Clinical Psychology accredited by the BPS and HCPC
  • Additional specialist training related to working with children, young people and their families and carers.
  • Registered member of HCPC
  • Eligible for chartered status as a clinical / counselling / health psychologist
  • Clinical supervision training for doctorate trainees


Desirable

  • Other related academic qualifications to Masters or Doctorate level.
  • Registered member of BPS
  • Registered member of DCP & Faculty for Children and Young People


Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate post qualification experience of working as a clinical psychologist with children and families where there are psychological concerns.
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of working with children and young people from pre school age to school leaving age.
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of working with children and young people with a range of disabilities and special needs from mild to extensive difficulties including learning difficulties physical difficulties chronic and acute health problems
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of working with children who have experienced abuse - physical, sexual, emotional
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of providing specialist clinical psychology assessments of children and young people, taking into account the context of their living situations which may include - living with biological parents with separated parents with other relatives with foster carers living in residential settings
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of using a range of specialist clinical psychology assessment skills which include:- oUse of psychometric assessments of intelligence, memory, reading, social functioning executive functioning. oUse of behavioural assessments. oUse of observational methods of assessment. oAssessment by interviewing. oAssessment by analysis of archive material
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of developing and providing specialist clinical psychology interventions and intervention packages for children, young people and their carers and families
  • oAdditional expertise in at least three of the following therapeutic models:- oBehaviour therapy. oSystemic therapy. oCreative therapies. oSolution focused interventions. oCognitive-behaviour therapy. oAttachment therapy. oPost traumatic stress oSchema Therapy oDialectical Behavioural Therapy
  • oDemonstrate post qualification experience of providing specialist clinical psychology advice to parents and carers and staff concerning the care and/or therapeutic provision for children and young people
  • oExtensive knowledge of and experience of child protection and safeguarding issues and procedures
  • oExtensive experience of working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency settings
  • oExperience of providing supervision to other psychologists to other professionals who work with children and young people and their carers and families
  • oExperience of providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
  • oExperience of providing teaching and training to other psychologists and other unqualified and qualified people


Desirable

  • Post qualifying experience of working with children and young people who present with sexually harmful behaviours


Skills

Essential

  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
  • Knowledge of relevant child protection, safeguarding and mental health legislation and its implications for clinical practice when working with children, young people and their families/carers
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as stated by HCPC and as recommended by the BPS


Desirable

  • Experience of being involved in a service development and its provision and maintenance
  • Experience of line managing psychology staff and/or other professionals
  • Record of having published in either peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books
