An opportunity now exists for current band 6 paediatric staff nurses with extensive experience to extend their skills in a Children's ED environment working alongside a varied nursing workforce, Emergency Consultants, Paediatricians, ACP's and GP's.
This post offers flexibility for staff wanting to work any hours within a sixteen hour period 7/7 a week, particularly suiting those with flexible working requirements. A fixed working rota is a possibility.
The successful candidates would be working alongside paediatricclinical band 7's, paediatric band 6's, paediatric band 5's, HCA's and Play specialists.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate's main responsibilities would be managing the triage flow within the department, adhering to the 15 minute triage wait and initiating rapid triage when the wait exceeds the standard. The candidate would also be expected to complete the Manchester Triage train the trainer study to support the Practice Development Nurse (PDN) to train and supervise junior staff in completing triage competencies.
Any applicants would need to have extensive Children's ED experience and evidence of being a role model to junior members of the nursing team. Any applicants should also be IRMER and X-ray trained, rapid triage competent, be able to supply PGD's and be willing to complete training to complete nurse led discharge from triage competencies.

This post is aimed at providing senior experience within the nursing establishment to provide a full and comprehensive triage of patients within the recommended 15 minute standard. Applicants must like a challenge, respond well to the demands of a very busy department, have good communication skills and enjoy working at a fast pace in a multidisciplinary team.
