We are seeking a senior mental health practitioner full or part time. This post will cover the Surrey short stay and SEMH schools in the South of Surrey. You will be part of the Specialist Schools Mental Health Support Team(SS MHST) who work Surrey wide (based in a newly refurbished base in Leatherhead). The SS MHST is a vibrant new team that has been coproduced with children and young people (CYP), families and schools to support CYP attending specialist schools in Surrey. Specialist schools include those offering specialist provision for CYP with diagnoses of Learning Disabilities/Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Condition and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or significant Social, Emotional or Behavioural needs. Our Team currently comprises of Education and Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Supervisor (OT), RTT ASC/LD, Assistant Psychologist, and the clinical Lead/Systemic Psychotherapist.SABP offers a range of continued professional development opportunities. Depending on your professional qualification there are opportunities such as reflective practice groups, supervision training, coaching skills, opportunities in Clinical Leadership and top up degrees.

Main duties of the job

This exciting opportunity means we are looking to recruit a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our MHST Specialist schools Team in Surrey. As a Senior Practitioner you will be responsible for delivering individual and or group interventions directly to CYP and their families, providing consultation, advice and training to other professionals and the supervision of junior members of the Team. The clinician will be a professional who has experience and a passion for providing direct intervention's to yp with ASC and LD and special education needs.

We are looking to build a multi-disciplinary MHST team whose strength will come from the variety of skills and experience brought by each team member. As such we would welcome applications from candidates with a range of experience and from range of core professional backgrounds including but not exclusively: Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapists, Child Psychotherapy, Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurses and CBT Therapists.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oProfessional degree qualification relevant to the specialist field (Including but not limited to Psychologist, CBT Therapist, Nurse, Social Worker, OT, Art Therapist etc.)
  • oRegistration with a relevant professional body.


Desirable

  • oPositive Behaviour Support Qualification `
  • oSupervision qualification


Experience

Essential

  • o2 or more years' experience working therapeutically, clinically, or consultatively within a CYP Educational or Mental Health Setting, with children and young people with mental health difficulties and their families.
  • Experience of working with young people who have special educational needs, learning disabilities, language and social communication difficulties, neurodiversity and and behaviours of concern.
  • oExperience of multi-agency collaborative working
  • oExperience of monitoring performance and outcomes
  • oExperience of offering Supervision
  • oExperience of working with people of different ages with a range of mental health issues and/or learning needs


Desirable

  • oExperience of delivering CBT informed practice
  • oRelevant post-qualification training
  • oExperience of delivering mental health interventions in education settings
  • oExperience of delivering CBT informed supervision at low intensity level
  • oExperience in whole school approaches to mental health in education settings.

  • oKnowledge of CYP IAPT & the benefits of low intensity work
  • oKnowledge of CYP IAPT outcome measures
  • oDemonstrable knowledge of relevant safeguarding and mental health legislation
  • oAbility to motivate, guide and support staff to develop
  • oAbility to provide culturally sensitive support and supervision
  • oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • oAbility to teach, train and provide clear consultation
  • oAbility to think clinically/therapeutically about client need
  • oAbility to improve services to increase efficiency and enhance patient experience
  • oAbility to write concise and informative reports and letters
  • oAbility to use and interpret outcome measures to monitor intervention effectiveness. Competent ICT skills to collect and interpret data, for reports, presentations, and service performance
  • oProvide online support
  • oEngage in online meetings
  • oRecord keeping, report writing, note taking etc


Desirable

  • oFamiliarity with electronic patient management systems such as IAPTus, RIO, SystmOne etc.
  • oAwareness of relevant initiatives and frameworks, including MHSTs, Thrive and CYP IAPT.
  • oAwareness of relevant data monitoring requirements
  • oExperience of assessing/working with complex case.
  • oExperience of developing clinical policies/procedures.
