If the answer is yes, you may be interested in this exciting role working within an enhanced care pathway for individuals diagnosed with personality disorders.

Essential criteria include a keen interest & specific experience in working with individuals with a diagnosis of personality disorder/complex trauma, advanced communications skills, a flexible approach & a desire to work as part of a trauma informed team. You will need to have a vision to implement service improvement initiatives to support driving the service forward as part of the Integrated Community Care & Recovery team. You will possess the ability to work autonomously, multitask & be self-organised, whilst also being able to work as part of a relationally informed team. You will be involved in promoting further development & influencing high quality clinical practice in this area, with a focus on art psychotherapy for this client with personality disorders.

Main duties of the job

The enhanced team for personality disorders offer complex case reviews and formulation as well as a range of specialist, often longer term, individual interventions including art psychotherapy, eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing, mentalization based therapy, sensory needs assessment and bespoke needs led psychological interventions. A significant part of the role is supporting others in their work, including offering specialist consultation and supervision to teams. Training and qualifications

Essential

  • Core mental health profession in psychology (clinical or counselling), art psychotherapy, adult psychotherapy, mental health nursing or occupational therapy:
  • Qualification in accredited professional clinical specialism (Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Art Psychotherapist/Occupational Therapist/ Adult Psychotherapist)


Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training or additional qualifications in at least two specialist psychological models including an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other psychological therapy e.g. EMDR, MBT, CAT, DBT, Systemic, brief Psychodynamic Interventions, sensory integration.
  • Leadership experience


Experience

Essential

  • Experience, knowledge and skills of working with people with personality and complex trauma presentations.
  • Significant / demonstrable post qualification experience of specialist psychological/relevant specialist assessment and individual and group based treatment of clients with complex difficulties across adult secondary or tertiary care settings.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.


Desirable

  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
  • Post qualification experience and/or formal training in supervision, enabling the post holder to independently supervise trainees in accordance with relevant criteria adopted by local training courses.


Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Skills in the formulation of problems from a psychological perspective and in the implementation of highly specialist psychological therapies, interventions and management techniques that are appropriate for use with complex presenting problems.
  • Well-developed theoretical and practical knowledge of the field of psychological theory and practice and evidence based treatments consistent with postgraduate level professional training and further post qualification study, training and supervised experience. Or A demonstrable knowledge of evidence - based Occupational Therapy practice in Mental Health
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to empathically, sensitively and effectively communicate clinical and condition related information to clients, their families, carers and professional colleagues (within and outside the NHS) that is extremely complicated or technical extremely sensitive and potentially distressing to the recipient or that is extremely contentious or challenging.
  • Skills in providing consultation and advice from a psychological/occupational perspective to members of other professional and non-professional groups.


Desirable

  • High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies
  • Current driving licence and car/motorbike owner
