Main duties of the job

The Nurse Team Leader performs an essential role in maintaining a safe efficient service in the department / unit.

You will supports the senior sister in the provision of a planned and holistic programme of care for the patients attending Outpatients Department (OPD).

You will provide leadership in developing, implementing and evaluating standards of care in line with evidence based practice. With the senior sister, you will provide advice, support and leadership to all staff working in the area and work in close collaboration with other professionals providing advice and expertise to patients and the multi-disciplinary team

Participate in the recruitment process for the clinical area.

Qualifications / Training

Essential

• First level nurse on Part 1 of the NMC register, educated to diploma level
• Relevant clinical post-registration education including mentorship qualification.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to life long learning.
• Evidence of leadership training / development.

Desirable

• Relevant health care related degree

Previous Experience

Essential

• Significant experience caring for patients requiring outpatients nursing

Desirable

• Involvement in audit / research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences

Skills

Essential

• Ability to communicate effectively excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Evidence of leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Demonstrates a flexible approach, able to react to the changing needs of the department.
• Ability to use negotiating skills in a positive manner to influence change within the department.
• Ability to liaise and work with the multidisciplinary team, making recommendations to enhance the smooth running and management of the department
