Senior Dementia Crisis Support Team Nurse - Band 6

We are looking for an enthusiatic nurse to come and join our amazing award winning Dementia Crisis Support Team. The team are based in Corringham Essex and cover Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock areas.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a flexible and dynamic individual with a mental-health or dual registered (physical/mental) qualification for at least two years. You must have had experience in dealing with safeguarding concerns and risk assessments in mental-health/dementia.

We would like someone who has experience of Dementia care or is passionate about this specialist area.

The team respond to people who are in a crisis and can work intensely with patients and their carers for up to 6 weeks with our aim to keep people out of hospital. We work with patients and their carers in both their own homes and care homes.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of �1,192 and a maximum payment of �2,011 per annum pro rata).

Job description

Job responsibilities

The working hours are either 9-5 (7 days per week) and also some 11am-7pm shifts - this is done on a rota system. We are based at Corringham Health Centre and cover Brentwood, Billericay, Basildon, Wickford & Thurrock areas.

As the post is for 28 hours we can be flexible in how these hours might work for the suitable candidate.

The team consists of a Consultant psychiatrist, Specialist Psychiatric Doctors, Nurses, Support time and recovery workers and Admin staff.

We offer excellent support in the form of clinical supervision, internal and external training, attendance at conferences and various leadership courses.
