Specialist Speech & Language Therapist - Stroke & Community

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established, respected, supportive, proactive service working within the Speech and Language Therapy team across the stroke pathway and community services in Northamptonshire. Sessions are available within the stroke hyper-acute/acute and rehabilitation wards in Northampton General Hospital as well as generalist community clinics in the county.
Northampton General Hospital has a dynamic and highly rated stroke service as the designated centre for countywide acute stroke services. There are close working relationships with the Northamptonshire specialist stroke community services including strong networking and in-service training opportunities.
Main duties of the job
Your community caseload will involve Progressive Communication disorders as well as routine and complex dysphagia, you will be based in a clinic but community visit will also be required. The location of the clinic is TBC.

You will have the ability to work on your own initiative yet thrive as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team. You will possess excellent interpersonal and team-working skills and approach your work with energy and enthusiasm.
All SLT staff are encouraged to attend regular team meetings, countywide staff meetings and in-house clinical forums. The service promotes a strong culture of clinical supervision. Professional development is encouraged through membership of relevant Clinical Excellence Networks, in-house and external training courses and is monitored through annual appraisal.
Knowledge of RCP National Stroke Guidelines and SSNAP audit is desirable. Dysphagia experience is essential.
