Main duties of the job

This post is based within the front door physiotherapy team at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. This includes a busy Emergency Unit, Assessment Units, Frailty Assessment Unit and a Short Stay Medicine Ward. The postholder should show a passion and enthusiasm to support older frail adults with the Home First Approach, preventing admission where possible, and providing important early rehabilitation where not.

This post requires post registration experience in medicine, ideally in a senior role, with appropriate knowledge and skills including falls assessment & management, frailty specialist knowledge as well as the necessary skills to treat individuals across a wide range of other presentations in acute medicine.

You will be required to supervise and support other registered physiotherapy staff on rotation, as well as support staff, and students. Effective communication with the wider MDT, as well as community and 3rd sector services is essential in supporting patients and patient flow. To meet the fluctuating service demands across these areas, as a static senior member of the team, you will be expected to show a flexible approach. Complex discharge planning is a crucial aspect of this role, and the ability to think innovatively, and take part in service development activities in this area is also required.
