Applications are invited for Consultant Psychiatrist in Old Age Psychiatry, working in the Memory Assessment Service. 2 posts are available - a full-time post based at Lings Bar Hospital, and a part-time post based at Millbrook Mental Health Unit.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assume responsibility for diagnosis and treatment of dementia and related memory problems in older people covering populations within County-South (Broxtowe and Rushcliffe), Nottingham City and Gedling and Hucknall. The hub is at Lings Bar Hospital in Gamston.
Each team is nurse-led, working closely with medical staff and other healthcare professionals. Whilst it is expected that most patients will attend the clinics or video consultations for assessment and diagnosis some home based appointments will be offered where appropriate. Patients and carers who are unable to access the clinic/video consultation will be offered a home assessment or referral to the Community Mental Health Team.It is anticipated that the Consultant will work with the MAS MDT on a consultative basis providing clinical leadership and supervision to a team of advanced level practitioners. They will provide expert clinical consultation where needed and develop liaison pathways with secondary care acute services to develop novel approaches to treatment. The MAS Consultant will provide direct care for a small number of complex patients and be available for face to face/telephone/email/Microsoft Teams advice to the wider team.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

- MTCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management

- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
- Approved clinician status and S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
