An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an ambitious and newly formed NHS Group, NHS Humber Health Partnership, the 12th largest acute and community provider in the NHS. With a budget of over �1.3 billion, Hull University Teaching Hospitals (HUTH) and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) (the Group) are united to ensure better care is provided to a population of over 1.5 million people.

As part of this transition, we are seeking to appoint a Senior General Manager to lead the Operational Team to support regional and tertiary neuroscience services in Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Senior General Manager is the Divisional lead for the business planning and overall performance of the Division. The Senior General Manager also provides advice and support to the Operations Director, on relevant matters.

As a member of the triumvirate team leading the Division, the Senior General Manager is accountable to the Care Group Operations Director and is responsible jointly, along with the Clinical lead and Senior Nursing Team, for its overall efficient and effective leadership, management and performance.

The Senior General Manager will carry ultimate responsibility for the development and delivery of the service strategy, business plan and all key performance and activity targets including robust financial planning and management.

Specifically, the Senior General Manager is accountable for the leadership and direct line management of the General Manager and the associated operational and performance across the whole Division.

The Senior General Manager is accountable jointly with the Clinical Lead and Senior Nursing Team for ensuring that the safety and care of patients and service users is their primary concern.

The Divisional team is accountable for ensuring and assuring that the total business of the Division is managed safely, effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the strategic and operational objectives of the organisation. This means ensuring that all aspects of patient care and service are delivered to the highest standards, that relevant governance systems and processes are in place, robust and adhered to and that the supporting workforce is fit for purpose.

As a member of the senior management team, the Senior General Manager will lead on specific professional projects/topics at a corporate level, as agreed with the relevant Director.

The Senior General Manager will be required to act up or cross-cover in a professional or managerial capacity as required and appropriate.

Ensure with the Divisional Nurse and Clinical lead, comprehensive controls and assurance across all standards and maintain effective systems of integrated governance and risk management within the Division.

Develop the leadership, managerial and business capability of staff in the Division to support effective delivery, financial performance and service improvement.

Will participate in the Groups out of hours on call rota.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development including management studies to masters level or above or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Leadership/Management qualification


Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Significant experience working on both strategic and operational matters
  • Significant NHS/ public sector experience and knowledge, including upto-date knowledge and understanding of NHS systems and policies
  • Demonstrable success in building, leading, motivating and developing multidisciplinary teams as a highly effective people manager
  • Proven experience of effective performance and budgetary management and control.
  • Proven success in business planning and in the development of business cases
  • Experience of leadership of complex operational change/project management while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality
