We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 HCPC Registered Physiotherapist to join our Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy Service in the Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust based in Tamworth.

You will be working as part of a friendly team of Physiotherapists and Advanced Practice Physiotherapists. You will work independently to manage your own case load and contribute to departmental and service needs. You will provide initial assessments to service users and provide programmes of treatment, care and support required for the individual and their family or carers.

An understanding of MSK rehabilitation is desirable along with varied clinical placements as a student. We offer comprehensive and robust support and you will be supported by our highly skilled and experienced physiotherapists and the wider multidisciplinary team. Continuing Professional Development is encouraged and identified through annual appraisal. Clinical supervision is offered through groups or individual sessions as appropriate.

You should hold excellent communication skills, show initiative and team spirit as well as be committed to patient care.

You will be expected to be flexible and have the ability to travel in a timely manner to work in a variety of locations across the Tamworth and surrounding regions, as the service requires.

Main duties of the job

You will join our friendly team as a Physiotherapist and will be expected to assess new service user referrals and care/support needs. Assess service users and formulate, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of treatment /care/support for individuals, families and carers. The treatment/care/support plans may include the following:
  • Promoting independence/self-management and maintaining safety.
  • Increased functional ability.
  • Improvement in health and wellbeing including mental health.
  • Interventions in disease/condition management.
  • Prevention and reducing of health inequalities
  • Case management/ treatment/ care plans

As part of this role you will be expected to:
  • Use professional knowledge and judgement to take into account the range of care/support packages and treatment options available. To consider each service user's personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement and adjust individualised programmes of care and intervention.
  • Maintain and develop skills and knowledge to deliver a range of interventions and set an example of good practice to other team members including skill sharing.
  • Maintain sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of the service user and their carers offering reassurance and empathy. This may be in regard to the nature/prognosis of their condition and implications of the same.
  • Use professional knowledge, skills and experience when working in changing environments and across professional boundaries.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. Registration with HCPC.


Desirable

  • Evidence of/willing to undertake post-registration training relevant to the post.


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant experience/placements to the role including assessment and management of functional ability
  • Ability to manage time and caseload effectively.
  • Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impacts of disability.


Desirable

  • Working in a multidisciplinary team


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Essential

  • Evidence of clinical knowledge relevant to the post.


Desirable

  • Awareness of standardised assessments and outcome measures. Awareness of relevant NICE guidance
