Job Details

Are you an experience nurse ready to take on leadership responsibilities & motivated by the prospect of shaping a brand new team?

We have renovated our PICU, Rollesby and need dedicated, driven Charge Nurses to help lead and support our new team.

You will become part of a superb team creating a new intensive care service who will be specialising in care for people requiring intensive nursing interventions, within an environment which is low in stimulus but high in engagement

Whatever the challenges, we believe in opportunities and there is always an opportunity for kind, compassionate, considered clinicians here. We have strengthened our nurse leadership, have clear and exciting nursing pathways with training and development to support your aspirations.

Within this everyday leadership role, your responsibilities will allow you to plan & coordinate the day, to ensure safety and to build a team spirit. Providing good care and governance is a fundamental part of what we do and, in this role, you will maintain the standards by supporting and nurturing the team.

What can you expect from us? You will have a structured induction and ongoing support from managers and senior clinicians. We understand everyone has different commitments outside of work, so can offer flexibility around working hours and patterns. If you want to progress clinically, in management or both - you will have access to programmes and pathways to support your career progression

Main duties of the job

We need your skills to help service users and staff to understand the complexities of distress and how we support people through difficult times and indeed their families. You will need to guide staff in planning care, monitoring risk and developing safe systems of working.

As a team we are working to create a culture of psychological safety which requires honesty, openness and authenticity. Our practice is guided by compassion, kindness and patience; and you will have a critical role in supporting this.

Particularly important to us is the respect for diversity, sexual safety and environmental safety, for which your contribution will be greatly valued by the MDT and service users. By adopting a QI methodology, you and the team will bring new and innovative ideas to this very special area of care.

Everyday Leadership also requires you to support a trauma informed approach to care planning. This offers a great opportunity to guide and teach the team and students to understand the importance of recognising the person in your care and managing the distress of that individual in a humanistic and least restrictive way.

This is an incredible opportunity for personal development and to influence a fresh approach to intensive psychiatric care. It is a really exciting time to join us, as we re-open our renovated ward - if you're looking for a new role in a specialist area, we would love to hear from you!

Diane Hull - NSNHSFT

Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, serving a population of 1.6 million people. We are a large organisation covering a wide geographical area divided into ‘Care Groups'. There are also Care Groups supporting children, family and young people’s services, and specialist services, including Forensic mental health services.

Each Care Group has its own Leadership team, with the aim of supporting clinically led decision making locally, to support the needs of people accessing services.

We have inpatient facilities across both counties with smaller bases in rural locations. Many of the Trust’s services are offered in the community, enabling people accessing services to receive the support they need in an environment familiar to them.

At NSFT we believe in recovery and wellbeing, and understand the importance of good physical health, maintaining relationships and achieving a balance between treatments and continuing an active life.

The people in our care, families and carers are at the centre of all aspects of all we do and are vital in helping shape and support our service strategy. Our strategy supports and enables people with mental health problems to live a fulfilling life and make their personal recovery journey.

Norfolk and Suffolk, in the East of England are some of the safest places to live in the UK, with low crime rates making it a community to be proud of. Housing prices are frequently cited as a reason to move here, as you get an incredible amount for your money compared with other major UK cities.
