Are you an experienced senior project manager? Have you managed capital projects and associated operational implementation plans? Are you a great communicator with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills? Then this role would be ideal for you.

The newly established role of Operational Project Manager is a key position working with managers and leaders across our friendly and welcoming Trust to ensure effective project and programme delivery of a key Trust wide project.

Taking the lead on delivery of our �5million capital investment scheme, you will be responsible for planning and implementing the capital scheme working with our fantastic teams across all levels of the Trust to support delivery.

Using your highly developed organisational and problem-solving skills, you will lead the scheme to extend our current Medical Assessment Unit, extend and relocate the discharge lounge and reconfigure our existing estate to support specialty assessment.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

Working with directors, service managers and clinicians and clinical sub-groups, plan, support, and monitor the development of plans for the implementation of key strategic projects. Provide guidance on complex plans and interdependencies, particularly where there is more than one course of action.

Take the lead on specific aspects of activity analysis and modelling, and business case development.

Be responsible and accountable for maintenance of a reporting framework with which to keep the Programme Board Group and Senior Responsible Officers (SRO's) regularly appraised of progress against work stream plans, the key risks to delivery, and any actions to mitigate those risks

Maintain a programme risk register in order to manage programme/project risks and to ensure that interdependencies are visible and effectively managed

Influence, motivate and negotiate with others at an executive and operational level across multiple organisations, aiming to establish effective collaboration to take initiatives forward.

Provide challenge and support to operational managers/leads, make judgements and decisions relating to the management of the programme, taking pro-active action where work streams are failing to meet key milestones/targeted levels of improvement.

With the support of Deputy Director, facilitate the timely resolution of 'bottlenecks' in the critical plans within the programme

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to master's degree level or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable commitment to continued personal development


Desirable

  • Recognised project / programme management qualification (e.g. Prince2, MSP)


Knowledge

Essential

  • Ability to manage multiple/ diverse complex tasks, planning towards and delivering to deadlines
  • Advanced analytical and data modelling skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and project specific software and advanced keyboard skills Ability to write clear and concise reports and present complex information within agreed timescales
  • Ability to work with varied groups of clinicians to develop new service models
  • Good understanding of NHS structures from a clinical and business perspective
  • Persuasive and effective communicator and negotiator with highly developed influencing skills
  • Willing to challenge existing practice
  • Influence and hold to account both direct and non-direct reports including senior managers and clinicians
  • The ability to analyse and understand complex data, present complex, sensitive or contentious information both formally and informally to small groups and present to large audiences.
  • Comparisons and recommendations of a range of options
  • Ability to make decisions on a range of complex project issues where there is likely to be more than one course of action
  • Understanding of NHS strategy/policy and responsible for policy/large scale implementation

Experience

Essential

  • Worked in the NHS at a senior level
  • Proven successful track record in leading and supporting the delivery of a complex programme of change in a senior position working with senior clinicians to successfully deliver change Programme management using standardised methodology
  • Business planning and knowledge of NHS finance regimes
  • Practical experience of planning and leading projects
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence to Board level
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and business planning processes
  • Experience of managing a range of conflicting demands and competing stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment
  • Good track record of internal and external partnership working


Desirable

  • Proven application of project/ service improvement tools and techniques to improve health services
