We are inviting applications for a 12-month secondment experience in a Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist role within the Continence Promotion Team. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated registered nurse currently working to a high level of independence with significant experience in a Band 6 role or above. The successful candidate will have extensive post-qualification experience including continence care and management and be prepared to maintain a leading role in the In-patient Continence Promotion Team. The successful candidate will have a passion for improving Continence Care for our older and vulnerable adult patients across the Trust, utilising their appropriate transferable skills to establish and implement plans of care to our patients, as well as providing education and training to patients, their relatives and carers, and staff across the Trust. This is a very exciting opportunity for the right person, and as the service is continuing to develop within the Trust, the post-holder will be at the forefront of shaping and improving the quality of continence care provided to some of our most vulnerable patients.

Co-ordinate the daily management of the team
Be a primary point of contact for clinical teams caring for patients demonstrating urinary and faecal incontinence in the non-surgical patient group
Provide advice and support to the clinical teams caring for patients presenting with bladder and bowel problems
Conduct high quality nurse-led bladder and bowel assessments for our older and vulnerable adult patients
Liaise with system-wide partners on specific patient issues, including referrals into community teams
Work collaboratively with patients and carers, alongside the MDT in the promotion of good continence care
Take a lead in education, training, and documentation about this specialty area
The post holder will have excellent interpersonal skills, an organised mind and ideally experience in quality improvement and service change. Knowledge, skills, and experience in continence management are essential given the specialty of this team.

The post holder is responsible for the management of a defined caseload of patients with specialist continence care needs within core hours Monday to Friday.
The post holder will carry out the assessment of those needs, working with the treating teams in the planning, implementation and evaluation of measures to support both the patient and those close to them.
The jobholder will provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the speciality service. The jobholder will ensure cost effective use of resources.
As a role model the post holder will promote the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care.
The job holder will provide training and education to staff groups, patients and families/carers.
