Are you an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in working with adults in the acute setting? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic dietitian, to join the team at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT) at the Lister Hospital in East and North Hertfordshire, delivering a service as part of the Acute dietetic team. This is a permanent post, advertised as 37.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will work as part of the broader HCT Nutrition and Dietetic Service, which is Hertfordshire wide.

Main duties of the job

The role includes inpatient work including experience in the following areas:
  • ITU (including enteral and parenteral feeding).
  • Stroke.
  • Inpatients.
  • Outpatient clinics (face to face and virtual).

Job responsibilities

To work as an independent practitioner using a specialist level of knowledge and skills in the provision of a dietetic service to acaseload of inpatients in critical care and partake in shadowing opportunities with regard to parenteral nutrition with the aim to providethis care. To work independently and to be responsible for the provision of a dietetic service to general inpatients in a variety of areas includingITU, stroke and gastroenterology. To contribute to the Nutrition ward round where appropriate. To deliver a designated outpatient clinic. To provide support for newly qualified / student dietitians as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council


Desirable

  • Member of the British Dietetic Association


Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidence of a clinical portfolio in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Up to date knowledge of dietetic practice
  • IT literate
  • Evidence of CPD and commitment to life-long learning


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working as a Dietitian
  • Experience of supervising or mentoring students


Skills and Abilities

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to use own initiative and work independently
