To be responsible for the service provision of clinical imaging within Clinical Research Trials.
Be the main point of contact between Clinical Trial Sponsors, Imaging Reading Centres and the Ophthalmic Imaging Department at Bristol Eye Hospital.
The post holder will co-ordinate the necessary imaging procedures for clinical trial patients ensuring a seamless provision of service by imaging staff to NHS and Research patients, attain certification for each trial protocol and facilitate training and certification of all imaging staff, maintain the imaging database and transmit data to reading centres, source all required equipment for imaging within research.

Main duties of the job
- Manage all Clinical Research Imaging services at the Bristol Eye Hospital.
- Train all imaging staff in Imaging protocols for new studies and support them through certifications.
- Ensure that all staff have current ICH/GCP training and attend regular training courses in all relevant imaging techniques.
- Maintain a database to provide evidence for all imaging certifications and training dates.
- Support with trial feasibilities and equipment information.
- Maintain an equipment inventory including modalities, software and versions.
- Remain up to date on relevant drug trial protocols and procedures and familiarise all staff with any changes.
- Maintain a good working relationship with clinical trial sponsors, research unit staff and reading centres.
- Transmit image data to reading centres within the required timeframe and ensure data queries and all other queries are dealt with in a timely manner.

- Represent and take an active role in the Clinical Research Unit, Directorate and Trust Research meetings.
- Liaise with all medical, nursing and other professionals and support staff in order to ensure the smooth running of the research projects and patient visits.
- Liaise with other managers and healthcare professionals in the provision of joint services.
- Ensure adequate research study supplies are available and in date for each ongoing research project, purchase, source and order all research supplies.
- Manage the calibration and regular servicing of all equipment ensuring that all equipment remains certified for each project.
- Organise and liaise with sponsor companies if loan equipment is required so that service provision is not compromised.
- Keep up to date with developments in Clinical Research, certification in new protocols and clinical trials updates by attending all study initiation meetings and study protocol training sessions.
- Advise of the costing of individual procedures and study specific equipment required for each study during the set-up period and attend research finance meetings to discuss the spending plan for the research unit.
- Support training of new research staff with regards to research imaging requirements, equipment and processes.
- Provide staff cover for CRU clinics and maintain oversight of CRU lookahead and upcoming appointments.
