The post-holder will also be responsible for ensuring data integrity by carrying out regular quality assurance checks.
We are recruiting a research fellow to conduct clinical research in hepatic dysfunction in patients with single ventricle congenital heart disease The project will be supervised by Professor Alastair Baker (Professor of Paediatric hepatology, KCH).
The post-holder will be required to monitor and update on EDGE, the recruitment for the study.
The post holder will be expected to report serious adverse events in a timely manner.
The post-holder will be responsible for recruiting to target, carrying out routine research study procedures, keeping accurate administrative records, and managing data entries and data queries in a timely manner.
The post holder will work with a high level of autonomy, taking delegated responsibility for clinical decision-making, and will work closely with the Investigators in the study.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will have a personal duty of care in relation to research equipment and resources.
Particular emphasis is put at King's on the need to ensure that all staff recognise their responsibility to deliver services in a high quality, courteous, patient focused manner maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Clinical research activities will include: patient recruitment, conduct of experiments (cardiac and liver imaging), data collection and analysis. Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement.
Assist with the development of research protocols and other related documents required to take forward this project in children in accordance with HRA principles and R& D office guidelines, including applications for ethics if required.
Assist with data analysis and the preparation of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters and oral presentations for national and international meetings related to research projects.
Contribute to the overall activities of the research team and department as required, including student projects' supervision.
Contribute to the induction and direction of other research staff and students as requested.
Contribute to activities which promote equality, diversity and inclusion.
As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the post holder.
The post holder will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the line manager.
