An exciting opportunity for a 1 WTE 1 year fixed term/secondment opportunity Clinical Coordinator position has arisen, working in the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in Wirral. This post is fixed term for 1 year owing to the current postholder being on secondment into another senior post within the team to cover maternity leave.

The Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) are part of an exciting project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Wirral Schools. Wirral MHST sits within the wider Wirral My Mind Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (previously known as CAMHS).

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Coordinator who is compassionate and dedicated to improving the mental health of children and young people in Wirral. The post-holder will be an integral part of Wirral MHST, providing clinical leadership and coordination in the delivery of our services, alongside other Clinical and Operational Leads.

There will be an expectation to supervise staff and offer regular debrief to support clinicians in making decisions relating to clinical care. The post-holder will have responsibility for day to day clinical management of the team alongside the Team Manager who will lead on operational aspects.

The post-holder will have substantial experience of working in services for children, young people, parents / carers, and families. They will have a track record in effective multi-agency working, a comprehensive understanding of relevant policy and legislation, and strong communication skills.

The successful candidate will have expertise and skills in offering assessment and intervention to children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. The role will involve having a small clinical case load working directly with young people, their families and parents / carers, to be mutually agreed with consideration of the post-holder's specific areas of clinical training and experience.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters or equivalent level qualification in health/social care.
  • Core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional)
  • Professional Registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England)
  • Nationally recognised post-qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional).
  • Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.


Desirable

  • Supervision qualification


Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Sound knowledge of current professional staff and team development and continuous service improvement.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to MHA and Children's Act.
  • Information management and technology skills.
  • The ability and knowledge to signpost to other services.


Desirable

  • Recognition of the interface between physical and mental health for children, young people and carers.
  • Knowledge of the principles of CYP-IAPT


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working within children and young people's mental health
  • Multi agency/professional working experience.
  • Experience of delivering supervision both clinical and line management supervision.
  • Effective delivery of managing quality and change improvements.


Desirable

  • Evidence of management experience or further development within a leadership course.
