This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, qualified Clinical Physiologist/Scientist to join a friendly, aspirational team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post holder will be based at Charing Cross Hospital and will be a vital member of a team providing multi-site Clinical Neurophysiology services and commitment to quality improvement in line with our current pursuit of UKAS accreditation.
The department actively participates in STP and HSST training and currently has Year 3 and Year 1 clinical scientist Trainees and a Year 2 Consultant Scientist Trainee.
We provide the full range of neurophysiological investigations for adults and children, including Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), multi-modal Evoked Potentials (EPs), and Ambulatory and video telemetry. There is a long-term plan for in-house intra-operative monitoring.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills and will work collaboratively with the Lead Clinical Physiologist and other healthcare professionals to maintain and improve service provision.
The post holder should have a B.Sc in Clinical Neurophysiology with RCCP/AHCS registration or be an HCPC-registered Clinical Scientist.
Main duties of the job
Competent and confident in performing in a range of neurophysiological investigations in dedicated and non- dedicated environments, on adult and paediatric patients.
Responsible for taking appropriate action during patient investigations if serious abnormalities are identified.
Undertakes interpretation of results and provision of high-quality reports.
Works collaboratively with other healthcare providers for the smooth and efficient running of the service.
Participates in training and education of junior and other staff groups.
Participates in quality assurance and improvement, audit, research and development.

Essential
- Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and relate well to all patients including babies & children.
- Able to present information effectively. Good computer skills and technological competence including knowledge of Windows, and Office computer software.
- Competent in the operation of diagnostic equipment in the department and on the ward.
- A good grounding in Clinical Neurophysiology. Able to produce effective written reports (e.g. IELTS level 7 exam or equivalent, where English is not the first language).
Education/ Qualifications
Essential
- BSc Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent formal specialist training(other appropriate qualifications e.g. BTEC HND/C in MPPM/or equivalent experience + professional exam ECNE Part I & Part II or MSc Clinical Science in Neurophysiology gained as part of the STP plus knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through additional courses, training or experience.

- Broad experience of at least 2 years
- Can perform a range of investigations including routine, sleep-deprived, prolonged and portable EEGs without supervision and provide an accurate report.
- Undertakes all modalities of EPs and NCS (with more complex investigations under supervision).
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of the daily management of defined work area.
Desirable
- Experience in long-term monitoring, including diagnostic video-telemetry & ambulatory EEG.
