An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Professional to join us to assist in providing an expert moving and handing/ergonomic service to DPT.

This role will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate and competent moving and handling training to all services across Devon Partnership Trust.

The post holder will assist the Manual Handling Lead to deliver safe and cost-effective training while ensuring the health, safety and welfare of employees, patients, contractors and others who may be involved with, or affected by manual handling operations is of priority.

Main duties of the job

The suitable candidate will be able to demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for moving and handling. You will support the learning and development program and roll out alongside the Moving and Handling / Ergonomic lead a trust-wide manual handling and bespoke ergonomics training package which is specialist-needs basis with varying patient and staff needs.

It is essential that you are a good communicator and be physically fit enough to perform equipment demonstrations and manoeuvres on a regular basis.

In this role, you will be actively involved in maintaining and enhancing safety systems and processes. Mobility across the organisation is essential as the suitable candidate will be expected to work across the whole trust.

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrate extensive, relevant experience in a variety of clinical and training settings
  • Experience in developing, delivering and appraising training materials and courses


Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Extensive working knowledge of a broad range of manual handling techniques and associated equipment
  • Knowledge of the relevant national clinical guidelines, and experience of implementing these recommendations in practice
  • In depth working knowledge of risk assessments and incident reporting within the NHS
  • Appropriate level of general fitness to safely carry out requirements of post, including moving and handling of people in complex and repetitive situations.
  • Ability to travel to meet the requirements of the role


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered professional i.e. Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or equivalent in-depth knowledge and experience.


Desirable

  • Recognised qualification in Manual handling training (including patient handling)
