Senior Physiotherapist - Pulmonary Rehabilitation
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our Pulmonary Rehabilitation team. This role will support the delivery and development of PR throughout Wye Valley NHS trust alongside the band 7 PR Physiotherapist Lead, band 6 Physiotherapist and band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner.
This part time role will include organising and running PR groups, managing the waiting lists, as well as supporting the community rehabilitation teams with training and education.
The post holder must have excellent respiratory knowledge and skills in assessing and treating patients with respiratory conditions primarily COPD, but also other respiratory conditions such as bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease and asthma. Experience of running PR groups is preferable, as well as excellent communication and IT skills.
We are committed to the continuing professional development of all our team members and will consider internal and external learning opportunities which can be discussed in regular supervision and appraisals. There is the opportunity to join in with the West Midlands PR network and peer support, as well as attending further training in running PR through the British Thoracic society.
This is a part time position of 22.5hrs. The working pattern will be Monday to Wednesday.
Main duties of the job
Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, Band 6 senior therapists use specialist skills in a variety of areas to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients. Based on the role, the post holder will be based either in the Acute and/or Community Hospitals, outpatient departments or community settings across Herefordshire.
Within the scope of the role, the post holder will independently plan, complete specialist assessment and deliver interventions. They will be responsible for independently managing their own patient caseload, demonstrating clinical autonomy, specialist clinical reasoning, prioritisation and manage competing demands. Supervision is clear and direct from senior therapy staff and includes formal training, supervised sessions, advice and support.
The post holder will initiate and contribute to service development, demonstrate self-development and will be responsible for supervision of others and delegate appropriate tasks to registered and non-registered staff. The band 6 senior therapist will be required to participate in 7 day working and for physiotherapists to join the on call rota once competencies have been achieved. This post may include working with adults and/or children.
