We are looking for patient focused, highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our expanding service. Candidates (Radiographers) will form part of a large multidisciplinary team, and will be supporting the delivery of high quality Cardiac Interventional services to our region alongside dedicated Clinicians, Nurses and Physiologists at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).

Our Catheter Labs have recently undergone refurbishment, we are equipped with x6 New High specification systems whilst also supporting the Paediatric surgical hybrid suite. We are passionate about optimising our patient experience.

Main duties of the job
The candidate will participate in a wide variety of elective/ acute specialised cardiac interventional examinations within a dedicated Cardiac Catheter Lab.
You will contribute to patient care and safety, whilst following policies and procedures as specified by the Radiology Management Team. As a tertiary regional centre, our patients presenting for examination have diverse backgrounds and may have complex physical and/or psychological conditions.
Cardiac Catheter Labs is a 24/7 department offering a primary coronary interventional service, therefore all staff are expected to commit to an on call rota incl. weekends and bank holidays.
Professional development is encouraged and supported with opportunities to advance your practice available. There is an educational structure in place to support and encourage staff.
You will be expected to manage personal workloads, authorising and prioritising radiological examinations as appropriate for clinical need.
The post holder also undertakes the supervision and specialist clinical training of radiographer, undergraduate students and other staff as appropriate.

Job responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Clinical Responsibilities:
The post-holder will be responsible for their own workload for a defined area within the Cardiac Catheter labs, often working on their own initiative without direct supervision, managing their own case load. Specialist radiographers will work within their own scope of practice as defined by the HCPC.
To contribute to the development and delivery of an effective and responsive Radiology/ Cardio-Respiratory service.
Undertake practical training and clinical supervision of radiographers, student radiographers, assistant practitioners and radiographer helpers/assistants as appropriate, according to department protocols and schemes of work.
Operational Responsibilities:
To liaise with other clinical and non-clinical departments within the hospital and various external sources in order to provide a quality service to patients and clinicians.
To show initiative in being able to provide solutions to service delivery problems, in unforeseen circumstances, using the available resources effectively to promote smooth delivery of service/patient care.
To participate in the safe transfer of patients and equipment within the department and hospital, using manual handling guidelines and risk assessments..
To show initiative, adapt and quickly respond to changes in service, patient or departmental need.
To report deficits in the data integrity of the IT systems in use in Radiology & the Trust
To contribute to regular departmental meetings and dissemination of information to others as appropriate.
To report clinical, non-clinical and radiation incidents in line with Trust and departmental risk management policies.
To assist in the training and promotion of accurate patient and examination data entry (various systems) and implement back up measures in times of system failure.
Professional Responsibilities:
To maintain and develop current knowledge of evidence based practice in specialist areas developing and complying with increasing range of technical applications available on Imaging Equipment to image a variety of conditions and patient types.
To be aware of and assist with the implementation of a MAJAX procedure.
To assist in the record keeping and organisation of mandatory training, as required.
To be familiar with the trust complaints procedure and are aware of how to advise and appropriately direct complaints.
To undertake initial assessments of equipment faults, report and document appropriately.
Assist in regular Quality Assurance (QA), including equipment testing and reject analysis.

- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a wide range of general and specialised radiography.
- Knowledge and insight of current trends in radiographic practice and wider NHS issues.
Desirable
- Postgraduate experience (ideally), working as a radiographer to include time spent previously in a cardiac cath lab
