This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified, experienced IBD nurse to join the ULHT trust wide IBD nursing team.

We are looking for a highly motivated, confident, enthusiastic nurse to join our dynamic team providing IBD care across our Hospital sites. Our services include, but are not limited to, IBD nurse clinics, telephone support line, biologic infusion service, inpatient in-reach service.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to have Gastroenterology, IBD or related experience, have excellent communication skills, the ability to work both independently under their own initiative and as part of a team, to be self-motivated with a desire to develop their knowledge and skills in IBD.

The post is an integral part of the gastroenterology multi-disciplinary team caring for patients with IBD, involving specialised nursing skills and leadership competencies which contribute to the effective and economical use of available resources in order to provide high quality patient care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Degree or degree level education
  • Physical Assessment and History Taking Course
  • 998 or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Evidence based research/care


Desirable

  • GCP/Research qualification/experience
  • Counselling course
  • Prescribing qualification
  • Working towards Masters level education


Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in gastroenterology
  • Experience of multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience of teaching in the practice setting
  • In depth understanding of aetiology, pathogenesis of IBD, pharmaceutical knowledge, medical and surgical intervention
  • Understanding of nutrition and IBD
  • Teaching of other health care professionals
  • Evidence of implementing changes in practice


Desirable

  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Previous experience as an IBD CNS
  • Experience of undertaking clinical audit
