We are excited to offer two full time posts for Staff Nurses to work as part of a nursing team for Looked after Children within Leeds Community Health Trust.
You will be working in our friendly and supportive nursing team caring for our children and young people who are looked after by Leeds city council, alongside their families and care givers, to maximise their health potential and address their health inequalities.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and monitoring the delivery and the heath care of looked after children and young people, age 0-17. You will work both directly and indirectly with children, young people, families and carers to complete to improve health outcomes.
There is a hybrid approach to work within the team, working 50% of time from Kernal House Killingbeck Drive Leeds LS14 6UF, which is a shared base with childrens social care. If you are interested working with this group of children and young people who are especially vulnerable and are well recognised as having increased health needs, then we would like to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
The role holder will be working with some of the citys most deprived children and young people and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges this brings to practice. Multi-agency and professional working is essential to this role, so you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be self- motivated, and have a keen desire to improve the outcomes for looked after children and their families.
Day to day working will need excellent organisational and planning skills, as you will have some responsibility for managing your own diary.
As a team we want to encourage development within the role and there will be the opportunity to develop expertise in given areas.
Applicants will need to have at least 2 years post registration experience, and be able to demonstrate knowledge and some experience in the field of looked after children and safeguarding.

Job Purpose
The post holder will be responsible for their designated workload within their speciality area with access to the support, advice and management from a senior clinician whilst not directly supervised. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional protocols and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in the best available evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

1.1. Demonstrates a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of common aetiologies, pathologies, conditions and presentations
1.2. Demonstrates the ability to apply theory to practice at a proficient level when assessing, planning, treating and reviewing using a holistic philosophy
1.3. Highly developed physical skills in order to demonstrate accuracy and dexterity when delivering care and treatments essential to clinical role e.g. preparation of medications, manipulation of equipment
1.4. Makes judgements requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of options and ensures clinical reasoning is reflected accurately in case records
