Solent NHS Trust have an exciting opportunity to join and help develop a brand-new team as Clinical Manager. You must be a qualified & Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist. This role will have a particular focus on working within the community and supporting those service users in Portsmouth with mental health conditions and substance misuse. You will be expected to be co located with substance misuse services and other organisations within this area of expertise as well as being an integrated part of Mental health services.
The Co-occurring conditions outreach team will be a small multidisciplinary team working predominately 9-5 Monday to Friday with some flexibility as required. The main aim is to provide timely and effective responses for people with co-occurring conditions. This will be achieved by the team working together to improve access to services which can reduce harm, improve health and enhance recovery, responding effectively and flexibly to presenting needs and prevent exclusion.
As a trust we have multiple opportunities for training and development. Including leadership training and opportunities for other advanced courses to progress your career.
There will be an expectation to work on call for the Mental Health service line. These are currently split into a 2, 3, 2 pattern to ensure your entire week is not disrupted.
Main duties of the job
You will provide management and leadership to the core team as well as support to internal and external partners in the area. Through excellent communication skills you will be able to develop relationships across statutory and voluntary agencies which are sustainable and develop a robust network to support those with cooccurring needs across the city. The team, managed by you, and supported by the Access Leadership Team, will support the development of pathways and joint working protocols, including an increase in joint assessments and work by mental health and substance misuse services.
You will need to be highly motivated, passionate and enthusiastic. The position requires excellent leadership skills and would suit someone with existing experience looking for a change and the challenge of supporting the development of a new service and how it will function.
Key responsibilities include: supervision, appraisals, performance management, recruitment and general day to day management of the team ensuring people have timely access to our service. You will be working as part of the leadership team and have close links with the wider leadership teams in both services.

- Relevant professional qualification. Mental Health Nurse with appropriate registration with NMC
- Management or leadership qualification and/or training/experience
Experience

- Experience in the effective and positive management of complex and high-risk cases
- Must demonstrate significant post-qualification Practitioner experience
- Experience of and commitment to working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience as a supervisor including a clear understanding of managing patient flow.
