Are you an experienced Systemic Anti Cancer Therapy ( SACT) nurse looking to progress in your career.

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the overall clinical and operational day to day delivery, of clinical standards of care and the leadership and management of the SACT/ Haematology Unit.

The post holder will work across all ELHT sites ensuring systems are in place to ensure staff are supported and supervised appropriately.

You will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to ensure the delivery of safe, personal and effective care with excellent outcomes and positive experiences for all service users and their significant others.

Main duties of the job

Main duties

? Ensure a robust professional approach to service development and improvement.

? Develop and maintain communication with multidisciplinary teams on complex matters, contribute to improving quality and ensure the delivery of high quality of care, promote equality and value diversity.

? Organises and deploys staff according to competence, and service need.

? Support and challenge team members as appropriate.

? Addresses' complaints by patients, members of the public and staff in accordance with Trust value's

? Ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, patients and visitors.

? Ensure patient records are maintained and that documentation reflects care provided.

? Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of services within the clinical area.

? Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure patient needs are met.

? Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives.

? Be actively involved in the administration of chemotherapy and other clinical nursing duties and be the lead practitioner for training nursing staff in the administration of chemotherapy.

? Ensure that adequate precautions are taken by self and all members of staff to minimise the risk of infection in relation to the safe disposal of body fluids, including blood products.

Maintain good communications with local Cancer centres and units to help achieve standardised policies and procedures.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Ensure team members have development review and that issues of poor compliance are addressed.

Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training and training records are maintained.

Participate in the development of others through involvement in training, education and development within and outside the unit environment

ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To continuously monitor and take effective action to address quality issues and promote quality

To raise quality issues and related risks with relevant people, and follow this up, addressing poor performance as per Trust policy e.g., complaints, incidents, poor communication.

To inform and influence of Clinical Governance Issues, ensure risk register is kept up

to date and managed.

Budget holder with responsibility for the authorising and controlling of financial resources which includes the management of equipment and contract agreements, monitoring and reviewing of all staffing budgets.

Manage staff sickness as per trust policy

Manage poor performance as per trust policy

Planning / organising of clinics and monitor activities as needed

Be involved in developing and promoting the service

Clinical Audit and support Clinical research projects.

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Continuing responsibility for the management of the department over 5 days.

Provide cross site Band 7 cover on the SACT unit.

Ensures targets are delivered and if necessary, implements measures to

achieve them.

Is responsible for ensuring that the Department expenditure stays within the budgetary allowance. Identifies problem areas and acts accordingly.

Plans the employment/deployment of staff within the department and ensures that safe staffing levels are maintained.

Identifies training and development needs for staff through appraisal, and service need.

Ensure effective and efficient rostering, and management of annual leave

Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff for own areas of responsibility.

Involved in all departmental activities and management decisions aimed at improving and developing the quality and cost effectiveness of the service.

Support the achievement of performance targets for waiting times.

Core member of the Chemotherapy Multiprofessional meetings.

Work alongside the Practice educator, providing support with training.

To be part of the Band 7 on call roster within the Trust, providing support to the on call Matron.
