We are looking for a highly motivated Registered Band 5 Nurse to join a supportive team on the Acute Stroke Unit.The Acute Stroke Unit is based at Royal Blackburn Hospital and has support of the dedicated stroke rehabilitation unit at Pendle Community Hospital. The successful candidate can be given the opportunity to rotate between the 2 units. Opportunity will also be given to attend our bespoke stroke study days as well as spending time shadowing the stroke specialist nurses and consultant nurses who work in our Emergency Department. Opportunity may also be available to partake in the stroke module held at Uclan.
All patients admitted as a suspected stroke are seen in ED by the stroke team and admitted directly to the Acute Stroke Unit. The successful candidate will be offered support and guidance on managing complex stroke medication therapies such as thrombolysis care, Labetalol and GTN infusions and telemetry monitoring.

To provide and promote the highest possible standard of care based on professionally determined standards and accept accountability for the patient as an exceptionally motivated individual with a passion and commitment for managing our Older People with respect and dignity. Work collaboratively to provide excellent care in the clinical area as an effective member of the clinical team, ensuring a safe environment for patients and colleagues, taking responsibility for a group of patients, participating in assessments and maintaining appropriate departmental documentation. Ability to identify and discuss nursing problems with patients, relatives and colleagues.
