This is a developmental post, the successful applicant will be paid at band 5 and would be competency assessed for a period of 24-36 months after which they we be paid at Band 6 once the set competencies have been met/confirmed.
The cardiology investigation unit (CIU) provides the trust with a comprehensive range of cardiology investigations including:
Bradycardia and cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemaker implantation (at BGH only) occasionally here at the RFH we do implant devices but mainly on emergency cases ie: external permanent generator, follow up device clinics on both sides.
ILR implants and follow ups.
Internal cardiac defibrillator implantation and follow up (see first point)
Routine electrocardiography & physiologist led exercise testing.
Ambulatory Holter Monitoring fitting and analysis, BP monitoring.
Cardiac catheterisation (PCI) within the newly opened double catheter laboratory including a 24-hour primary coronary intervention service (PPCI)
Right/Left Heart study, Thrombectomy and EKOS
Main duties of the job

- Demonstrate expertise in the performance of unsupervised exercise testing, haemodynamic monitoring, ambulatory holter and blood pressure monitoring, and electrocardiography.
Develop expertise in the performance of the full range of investigations carried out the CIU.
Interpret technical information & data from investigations such as ETT, DSE-TSE, in Tape analysis, ECGs and be able to recognise abnormal findings and report them through appropriate channels
Recognise the significance of investigation findings/diagnoses and act on these accordingly.
Be trained and accredited under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and to partake in providing basic life support and defibrillation as and when necessary.
Demonstrate a professional approach to patient care, and be able to communicate with patients clearly.
Effectively communicate within the department and other departments throughout the Trust
